Did Anet add minipets?

I've seen a panda and Kanaxai??? can these be confirmed? and are they special like Mallyx?

These minipets were given out as prizes in the Guild Wars Japan tournament for the top teams. I don't think they're new, I've been hearing about them for quite a while now.

They are also given to anyone who has a character that is 1 year old. When your character reaches 12 mos old(1 year), the next time you log on, in the inventory will be a wrapped gift. Double clik on the wrapped gift to 'open' your B-Day present.
I've gotten one, a cute lil Fungal Wallow, I call Wally.
Please let us name our mini pets Anet(half joking, half serious, they(ANet) have other more pressing matters at hand)

The OP is talking about the newer minipets. You can't get the Kanaxai or Panda through birthday presents.
